Healthcare and Assisted Living
The aging of the population, the sophistication and resources of much of the senior population, the desire and ability of many seniors to stay active, and the emergence of therapeutic / healing and enabling gardens has increased and broadened the importance of landscape architecture and specialized garden design in healthcare and assisted living facilities. Wolff Landscape Architecture, Inc. provides a comprehensive range of landscape architectural design and related services ranging from traditional site planning and planting design to programming, design, and documentation of specialized therapeutic / healing and enabling gardens.
We have also developed specialized gardens for Alzheimer’s patients in enclosed courtyards or other secure areas. We are committed to working closely with the institution, architect, and others to develop site and landscape plans and garden designs that capitalize on the therapeutic value of plants and landscaping and their relationship with wellness, and we provide services that help realize an institution’s need for the landscape to be not only physically attractive but also to have a therapeutic or healing dimension. We have also worked closely with Dr. Joanne Westphal, MD, PhD, a nationally recognized expert in therapeutic garden design who is both a medical doctor and a landscape architect.
