Senior Housing and Assisted Living Facilities
The aging of the population, the sophistication and resources of much of the senior population, the desire and ability of many seniors to stay active, and the emergence of therapeutic, healing, and enabling gardens has increased the number, kind, and quality of facilities built for seniors. Facilities include senior housing, independent living, assisted living, and nursing homes. Many of these residential projects, along with hospitals, now include specialty gardens that capitalize on the therapeutic value of plants and landscaping, and their relationship with wellness, as well as the beneficial and therapeutic value of gardens that allow and encourage physical and mental activity. Wolff Landscape Architecture, Inc. provides landscape architectural services that realize an institution’s need to be attractive and provide amenities but to consider also the therapeutic or healing dimension. We have worked closely with Dr. Joanne Westphal, a nationally recognized expert in therapeutic garden design who is both a M.D. and a Ph.D. in landscape architecture. We also provide the full range of traditional landscape architectural services for these projects, including planning, site planning, and planting design.
